With the construction of the swimming pool, one job has ended, but a new, even more important one is starting, or rather continuing. Rovinj's special hospital "Dr. Martin Horvat" will form a department for children's rehabilitation where children with certain health risks will be treated and monitored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- When we were developing the hospital's development strategy, we discovered that our hospital is an ideal place for the treatment and rehabilitation of children. This is nothing new, because the hospital was built in 1888 as a children's hospital. One should not be too innovative, but sometimes one should go back to the roots. Children can spend a long time there without starting to suffer from hospitalism, the feeling of belonging to an institution. They will have therapy in the morning, and in the afternoon they will play together with local children in our park and on the beach, says Marinko Rade, director of the Rovinj hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this project, the Rovinj Hospital was functionally integrated with the Srebrnjak Children's Hospital from Zagreb. They brought their experts to Rovinj, where they will be at the service of the patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- This value has been recognized by all the Istrian mayors and chiefs and the prefect, so the arrangement of the new children's department will be financed by all of them together. It is a very good story about cooperation for the greater good, said Rade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His concept is to first form a team and then build a building. They already have a pediatrician, a neurologist, a children's orthopedist, a physiatrist for children, a speech therapist, a psychologist, and a rehabilitator. The curiosity is that they also included a rehabilitation dog in the therapy. In cooperation with Srebrnjak, other children's specialists are at their disposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- We tested the team, we saw that there is a need on the field. Our polyclinic is full of children and we are now building a department. We covered everything, from beginning to end, emphasized Rade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In April, the public tender for the contractor ends, followed by the selection of bids, and then the start of work on the renovation of the administration building into the pediatrics department. This will enable health care for children near their place of residence and solve the problem of frequent trips by a large number of families of children with neurological risks to KBC Rijeka and KBC Zagreb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the last session of the county assembly, the hospital was granted credit in the amount of 2,322,649 euros for the purchase of equipment and conversion of the administration building into a department for children's rehabilitation, as well as expansion of activities. The loan is planned to be realized by the end of this year, and it will be repaid from March 31, 2025 to the end of 2034. According to the decision confirmed by the Istrian County Assembly, cities and municipalities will co-finance loan repayments. If all municipalities and cities do not sign the agreement, the remaining uncovered part of the amount, up to ten percent of the total credit obligation, will be borne by all other payers who have signed the agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By February 17 of this year, the County Administrative Department for Health and Social Welfare had received 23 decisions from cities and municipalities to accept credit obligations. This covers 64 percent of the value of the liability. The remaining local self-government units will make decisions by the end of this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
