The signage and illustration project created by Studio Tumpić-Prenc for the children's department of the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno was selected for presentation at this year's Zagreb Design Week, which took place in September. In addition, the project was also selected for prestigious biennial exhibition of the Croatian Designers' Association. This is a truly great success because it is a very selective exhibition where it is not easy to win a place.

By opening a new children's ward, the Hospital is integrating all specialized health services needed by the youngest patients with neurodevelopmental risks and disabilities. Studio Tumpić-Prenc was tasked with developing signage and illustrations for the newly opened ward, tailored to the needs of the youngest users.

The visual identity is inspired by the natural environment of Rovinj and its flora and fauna, creating a welcoming and stimulating environment that softens the experience of a hospital environment. The three floors represent different parts of nature: the underwater world on level -1, the terrestrial world on the ground floor, and the world of clouds and flight on the first floor. The illustrations combine simple geometric shapes into motifs inspired by the flora and fauna of Rovinj. The signage occasionally goes beyond its usual boundaries, becoming part of the story: motifs emerge from the walls, while interactive elements inspired by tactile exercises for motor development are integrated into the corridors. The system was developed in collaboration with hospital experts and adapted to children with developmental disabilities, using simple shapes, soft lines and a soothing color palette.

We are pleased that our joint work has been recognized in the professional design community, and we congratulate Studio Tumpić-Prenc on their excellent achievements and wish them much success in their future work!
