The Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno, in cooperation with the Juraj Dobrila Primary School Rovinj, organizes classes for all patient-students undergoing hospital treatment and day therapies.
Classroom and subject teachers provide children with educational and socio-psychological support to make their days spent in the hospital as painless, relaxed, and interesting as possible.
Since every child has the right to education even during their stay in the hospital, our goal is to provide students with a valuable and enriching experience through hospital classes that will enable them to continue their education and prevent the fear of returning to their home school after being absent from classes.
A child does not have to interrupt their education just because they are receiving hospital treatment, which is why our Hospital School strives to enable every student to continue learning in accordance with the prescribed curriculum.
Our main goal is to ensure that the student does not fall behind with the material during treatment in the hospital, which can cause multiple consequences.
Falling behind in the curriculum and the inability to progress in the educational process on an equal footing with their peers, as well as absenteeism from school and separation from friends, can result in psychological changes in a child.
Involving a child in the work of the Hospital School will contribute to their psychological, emotional and social recovery, providing them with a stimulating environment and a connection to everyday life outside the hospital.
Work with each student is individualized and tailored to their needs and abilities.
We believe that a friendly relationship between school and home is important for teaching in the hospital, so we invite parents to participate in the teaching process at the School in the Hospital and to encourage their child to participate in the lessons.
We would like to thank the Juraj Dobrila Rovinj Elementary School, the City of Rovinj-Rovigno, the Istrian County and the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth for their support and cooperation in the realization of this important project.
