The Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno hosted today for the first time the 10th coordination meeting of special hospitals for medical rehabilitation and health resorts of the Republic of Croatia dedicated to providing health tourism services.
The meeting brought together numerous representatives of specialized hospitals for medical rehabilitation and health resorts from all over Croatia, as well as representatives of key institutions involved in the development of health tourism and the improvement of the provision of medical rehabilitation services. Among the participants were the State Secretary of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, Renato Mittermayer, MD, Director of the Directorate for Sustainable Development and Public Tourism Infrastructure of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Ms. Sandra Posavec, Assistant Director for Health Protection of the Croatian Health Insurance Institute, Hrvoje Šušković, MD, representatives of the Health Tourism Service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Croatia, the Croatian National Tourist Board, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce, the School of Public Health "Andrija Štampar" of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb, and the Teaching Institute of Public Health of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The meeting discussed current challenges and development opportunities in health tourism, improving the quality of health services, strengthening cooperation between the health and tourism sectors, and further improving the medical rehabilitation system. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of coordinated action by all relevant stakeholders with the aim of further positioning the Republic of Croatia as a recognizable and competitive health tourism destination.
Hosting this important gathering is a confirmation of the professional reputation and importance of the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno in the field of medical rehabilitation, orthopedics and health tourism. At the same time, holding the meeting in Rovinj further highlighted the potential of the city and the Istrian County as one of the leading centers of health tourism in Croatia.
The participants of the meeting expressed satisfaction with the organization and constructive dialogue, and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in order to develop innovative health services, increase the competitiveness of Croatian health tourism, and create new opportunities for further growth of the sector.
