As part of the brain week celebration program at Zvane Črnje Rovinj Secondary School, our neurologist Matija Sošić, Ph.D., Ph.D. held a lecture for high school students on the topic of increasing awareness of the importance of brain function, recognizing reduced brain function in the most common neurological diseases, their prevention, and diagnosis and treatment. On this occasion, the neurological services that our fellow citizens and all residents of Istria can receive at the Institution were also presented, which include the treatment of neurological diseases and especially painful conditions, stroke prevention as part of a neurosonological examination of the carotid arteries and neurophysiological evaluation of the peripheral nervous system, i.e. EMNG.
At the Pula Medical School, our physiatrist Darko Kraguljac, MD held a lecture for secondary medical school students and their professors on the subject of rehabilitation of neurological patients. During his presentation, he pointed out the importance of treating neurological patients and the problems they face with regard to disability that occurs as a result of brain damage during pregnancy, childbirth and immediately after birth, as well as the consequences of disability that occurred during brain trauma or stroke. He presented modern methods of treatment that are carried out in our institution with a multidisciplinary approach (neurodevelopmental therapy, occupational therapy, hydrogymnastics, application of antispastic drugs such as botulinum toxin type A, logotherapy, sensory integration, treatment by psychologists) as well as the importance of therapeutic approaches that so far they are not carried out in our institution, such as hippotherapy and neurorehabilitation with robotics.
