International Epilepsy Day and National Epilepsy Day in 2026 are celebrated on Monday, February 9. On this occasion, we would like to highlight the importance of timely diagnosis, understanding, and comprehensive support for children with neurological disorders and their families.
Our hospital offers EEG (electroencephalography) – a safe and painless diagnostic test that records brain activity. EEG helps doctors diagnose and monitor epilepsy, assess and plan further treatment and therapy.
Although the examination is simple and non-invasive, it can be unfamiliar and challenging for children. This is why preparing the child plays an important role in creating a sense of security, reducing fear, and improving cooperation during the examination.
To make it easier for parents and children to come for the examination, we have prepared educational materials that explain the EEG examination process in a simple and child-friendly way. The materials were created in collaboration with the Croatian Chamber of Educational Rehabilitators, with the aim of providing additional professional and developmentally appropriate support to children and their families.
Available materials include:
· Instructions for parents
· Social story "My EEG test"
· Visual review schedule (step-by-step)
Materials can be requested from the pediatric neurology clinic or downloaded from the hospital's website.
Our goal is for every child to come to the examination prepared, calmer and with a sense of security, and for parents to be informed and empowered.
