For several years now, the Najdoktor association has been publishing a list of the best doctors as chosen by patients in the Republic of Croatia.
They announced that they are continuing with their original goal of creating, based on patients' experiences, a more realistic picture of individual doctors in the Republic of Croatia.
He was among the best this year too. Darko Kraguljac, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation who has been employed at the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno since 2019.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Rijeka in 1997, and in 2002 he enrolled in a specialization in physical medicine and rehabilitation, earning the title of specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation - physiatrist.
In 2004, he enrolled in postgraduate professional studies in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb, and completed his specialization at the University of Zagreb, KBC Zagreb, Clinical Department of Rheumatology and Physical Medicine; KBC Zagreb, Clinical Institute for Rehabilitation and Orthopedic Devices; KB Sestre milosrdnice, Clinical Department of Rheumatology and Physical Medicine; Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation Varaždinske toplice; Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation Krapinske toplice; University of Rijeka; KBC Rijeka, Department of Rheumatology and Physical Medicine, and the Orthopedic Clinic Lovran, Department of Physical Medicine, Rheumatology and Rehabilitation.
From 2006 to 2019, until he arrived at the Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno, he was employed at the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine of the Clinical Hospital Center Rijeka, as Head of the Department of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine for Children.
From 2019 until today, that is, six years in a row, the users of the Najdoktor.com portal rated Darko Kraguljec, MD, PhD, as the best doctor in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Darko Kraguljac, a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation who has built his knowledge and skills not only through his work but also through additional education in education, is particularly recognized worldwide as an expert in treating patients with muscle spasticity using botulinum toxin. Botulinum toxin is particularly important in neurology and rehabilitation. Botulinum toxin can relieve excessive muscle tension, which we call spasticity. Muscle spasticity is a common symptom of various neurological diseases or occurs after brain injuries or is left behind as a result of a stroke. Spastic muscles in patients cause pain, limit mobility and change the appearance of the affected part of the body, all of which has negative consequences on daily functioning and quality of life. The use of botulinum toxin reduces muscle tension, improves mobility and enables better rehabilitation. The use of botulinum toxin in patients with muscle spasticity requires great skill and experience in order to inject the toxin in the right place and thus cause the desired effect.
