Every year March 6 is celebrated European speech therapy day. With the aim of raising awareness of the work of speech therapists, a specific area of work of speech therapists is highlighted every year. This year's topic is "The role of speech therapists in intensive care units", and you can hear more about that topic at today's symposium: Join Zoom Meeting.
Speech therapy is a science that deals with the prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment of human communication disorders, which includes all those processes and functions that are connected with the production of speech, and with the perception and production of oral and written language, as well as forms of non-verbal communication (definition of the European associations of speech therapists - CPLOL). In our institution, speech therapy assessment and treatments are carried out as part of the Early Intervention Team, and in the inpatient Department of Physical Medicine.
