A successful combination of tradition and transformation into a modern health center
Few hospitals in Croatia can boast such a rich history, but also a beautiful view and environment. Special Hospital for Orthopedics and Rehabilitation "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno due to its beneficial Mediterranean climate and position on the peninsula of St. Pelagius, since its foundation in 1888 it has been an attractive seaside resort, and since it attracted not only patients but also visitors, its opening marked the beginning of Rovinj tourism (today the champion of Croatian tourism).
It is a certified institution for climatotherapy and hydrotherapy with a unique medical-therapeutic beach that enables therapy as well as entry and exit into the sea for all people with disabilities. Promenade by the sea and park-forest with a view of the city of Rovinj with a therapeutic park and an outdoor training ground, a swimming pool complex with a sports pool intended for athletes and recreationists and a therapeutic pool with hydrotherapy and physical therapy, as well as fully adapted facilities, the beach and the environment, which accessibility for people with disabilities and reduced mobility is ensured - they are the unique advantage of this institution.
The peculiarity is illustrated by the fact that the imperial crown was incorporated into the original project of the park architecture of the Special Hospital "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno, and hence the inspiration for creating a new logo and visual identity of the Hospital, while respecting the rich history and architecture that they inherited.
The symbolism of the new visual is tied to the roots of the Hospital's foundation, as well as its unique advantage - it contains a crown as a symbol of a historically noble hospital, the shape of Istria, wind and wave as a symbol of a certified facility for climatotherapy and hydrotherapy, the shape of a therapeutic beach unique in Europe, and in addition through the symbolism of colors, it is associated with health, integrity, quality and purity.
- An important fact that we must not ignore is that the Special Hospital "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno is actually the originator of tourism in today's award-winning city - the tourism champion of the Republic of Croatia, the city of Rovinj-Rovigno. It has been attracting patients and visitors since the very opening of the Hospital in 1888, when it is considered the very beginning of Rovinj tourism, initially of medical importance, because until 1912 Rovinj had no other accommodation facilities. The very integration of the imperial crown in the original park architecture project of the Special Hospital "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno confirms that we have the honor to work and operate in the imperial hospital. Now that, together with the city we live in, we are building and thinking about our future with full momentum, I think it is the right time to introduce a new visual identity that will remind us who we are and the extent of our history. The team of the Special Hospital "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno, by ensuring the accessibility of services to all guests and patients, works continuously to improve the quality of health care provided to patients as well as the quality of life in their every day, and is supplemented by strengthening the health care of patients who come from all over the Republic of Croatia, and health tourism both in Rovinj itself and in the whole of Istria, especially with a focus on accessible (DEI - Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) tourism.
Since 2014, the Hospital has continuously invested in infrastructure, equipment and development of new activities. The guiding thought of the entire team of this hospital is: service available and accessible to everyone.
Thus, from the original activities, which until 2014 included only physical medicine and rehabilitation, orthopedics and traumatology, and physical therapy, today the services have been additionally expanded in the field of neurology, pediatrics, neuropediatrics, general internal medicine, anesthesiology, resuscitation, and intensive care medicine with treatment pain, clinical psychology, speech therapy, clinical radiology, professional and scientific activities and health tourism, where additional investment was made in the renovation and opening of a 4-star hotel accommodation facility.
Accordingly, today the Hospital carries out physical therapy and rehabilitation before and after operations on the locomotor system, rehabilitation after amputation, rheumatological rehabilitation, spinal rehabilitation, craniocerebral rehabilitation and all other rehabilitation carried out by physical medicine and therapy, rehabilitation for neurological problems after a stroke , rehabilitation for neurological diseases, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and monitoring, habilitation and rehabilitation of children with neurological risk. All these initiatives and efforts contribute to the growth, development and success of the Special Hospital "Martin Horvat" Rovinj-Rovigno, which is among the leaders of inclusive tourism in Croatia.
